Chronicles of the Dark Avengerâ„¢ Part 1

It was a dark and stormy night. The rain was crimson red today, Dash observed. It meant that volcano eruptions were going to happen soon. People would soon be scattering for the other side of the island, along with the other creatures. Houses would be destroyed, food would be consumed by the lava snakes. Dash thought, 'Isn't there anything I can do to help all this people?' As though reading his thoughts, his partner, Jeff, said, "No point looking, there's nothing we can do. Let's focus on our mission. Scuro One will not be happy if we fail again." Dash immediately snapped out of his thoughts. The mention of Scuro One was enough to have that affect on anyone in the Legion of Oscura. He was a feared assasin, promoted to a official member in the El Traza council. Most people only failed him once, once before they never saw the light ever again. Dash swallowed nervously and said, "Yeah, let's get on with it.
Titan was a planet with two very different sides. One side was full of technology and was very advanced. The other side, however, was in a much sorry state. Technology was non-existent and everybody did things the old-fashioned way. Houses were made of straw, and farms could be seen everywhere. The Legion of Oscura existed in this half of the world, pitting themselves against the Legion of Ligera, which existed in the more advanced part of the world. Both legions were like the governments of the two halves of the world. Why was the world split like that, well it began with two best friends.
The two friends were as close as they could be, growing up together and playing together. However, they had very different thoughts and ambitions. It was a wonder they lasted as friends until fifty years before, where they finally could not stand being with each other. Oscura was a very quiet, and prefered stealth to having a big entrance and have everyone notice him. He wanted the world to be equal. Everyone being the same and equal, no one should be treated unfairly. People would co-exist peacefully. Oscura had a contrasting personality and ambition. He was not out-going and so happy-go-lucky, but he wanted the world to be a better place for everyone to live in. Ligera, however, was a different matter. He prefered to be more of a show-off and did not like stealth. He loved to be majestic and tended to look down on people. Ligera secretly wanted power and wealth more than anything else, but he did no mention it to Oscura when he found out they had such contrasting thoughts. His ambition was to have the world in his palms. He wanted to rule Titan solely and did not liked sharing power. Once he was old enough to think, he was already plotting schemes to harm and sabotage Oscura. Oscura did not know of his plans until finally, there was a day when he overheard Ligera talking to a man, supposedly telling him to assasinate a major canidate during the Campaign. The Campaign was a big event that decided who would rule the governement that was ruling the world. Only Ligera and Oscura and a major canidate were left in the Campaign. The other canidates either mysteriously disappeared or were too scared and quit the campaign. Oscura finally knew what had happened to the other candinates. He could control the anger that was pulsing through his veins and decided to catch Ligera red-handed. Ligera was surprised that Oscura had found out about his plots and tried to persuaded Oscura to join him and dominate the world. However, Oscura could see in Ligera's eyes that he had changed. The old Ligera that was loyal and had integrity was gone, replaced by a cold-blooded murderer who wanted power more than anyhting else. He knew that Ligera could betray him just as easily without even hesistating. Oscura asked Ligera, "What has the thirst that power done to you. You are not the Ligera that I have once known. From now on, we are not friends and allies anymore!" Ligera, however, was unfazed by the abrupt turn of events and said, "Then, it shall be. From now on, we shall be arch-enemies. You can take your followers and get them out of my sight." Hence the world was split into two halves. Titan was actually quite a small planet, and was one of the nine small planets orbiting around a huge star that was going to burn out in another million years. So, the planet was easily halved with the immense power of both Oscura and Ligera. Ligera liked being flashy, so technology was a major part of his empire. There were huge sky scrapers and really sophisticated equipment. Flying cars and space craft were of course part of the agenda. Oscura, however, led his half of the world in a more ancient way. They did not need to depend on flashy equipment, but on themselves to survive. The people there were self dependent and self sufficient. The people there treated each other as equals and was not selfish. Oscura had indeed gotten his wish. However, a piece of huge land dedicated to the Legion of Oscura was different. The whole land was a training ground for people who were interested to be a part of the Legion of Oscura and fight against Ligera. They were taught the skills of assasins, how to be stealthy and to kill silently. There were ranks among the warriors and the higher your rank, the more preivelages you was entitled to. However, people were still treated fairly and no one was neglected. There was a humongous castle in the middle of the land and it was where the true Legion of Oscura resided. Warriors of all ranks were required to live there during the parts of their training. Oscura, of course, also resided in the dark castle. The Scuros lived there, too. The Scuros were Oscura most trusted men and they were feared by most of the people. Only the Scuros had seen Oscura in real life. It was the same for Ligera. His most trusted men were known as the Luces. They were warriors that were very majestic and were not afraid to hide themselves. The Legion of Ligera looked down on most of the common people in their empire. People were treated unfairly and the poor were looked down upon. Ligera's empire was only fit for rich and arrogant people. Any sign of weakness and the rich would pounce on you within seconds, chiding and mocking you. That is why more and more people were going to Oscura's empire. That intensified Ligera's hate for Oscura even more. After so many years, the rivalry between them was growing stronger and stronger. Of course, there was the question, after so many years, why do Ligera and Oscura look as thought they were in their thirties. There had been rumors that both had chanced upon a hurt immortal and helped him. The immortal in turn, thanked them by casting a spell on them that let them be forever young, and never get infected by any sickness.
Dash snapped out of his thoughts again as Jeff nudged him to look at the valley down below...

To be continued after the exams,
The dark avenger.
